While I spent 25 years mastering the drilling industry across oil, gas, and mining, my technical journey was running parallel. My drilling career took me from the Arctic, working both Coasts : (West) Hope Bay,NT to (East) : northern Baffin Island, NT to as far south as Conway, AR. Including projects in nearly every Canadian province.
During the 2000s, between drilling seasons, I was building custom gaming PCs navigating the perilous waters of manual BIOS flashing, configuring complex RAID storage systems, and troubleshooting hardware conflicts that would make most people quit.
My pattern of embracing emerging technologies continued when I became intrigued by cryptocurrencies in 2016. By spring 2017, I was fully immersed in learning the space, and by summer, I was confidently trading and navigating the ecosystem with Bitcoin hovering around $3,500. I was too busy chasing the ICO craze to take full advantage of those low BTC / ETH prices. A valuable lesson learned! I was an early adopter of Monaco (MCO) project, proudly receiving one of the first Ruby Red steel crypto cards before witnessing their evolution into Crypto.com (CRO) from token swap to seeing their brand plastered across Formula One Events.

Being early to emerging trends seems to be a pattern. As an avid adventure motorcyclist who solo-journeyed to the Arctic. From Calgary to Tuktoyaktuk on my 2016 KTM 1190 Adventure S in summer 2019, I did my homework on the Kove Rally 450 Motorcycle, the potential “unicorn” of light weight ADV’s. After watching the founder’s passionate interviews (despite the language barrier) and seeing their impressive Dakar Rally finishes, I became the first person in Canada to put a deposit on a Kove Rally 450 in March 2023.
